PERSISTENCE: The Key to changing your life.

You hear it every day. People want something, or they want to change something about themselves, their life, or their body, yet they don’t follow through. A wise man once wrote a phrase that has stuck with me through time, and I continue to use to this day as one of my personal mantras; namely: “A Quitter Never Wins, and a Winner Never Quits.” The key to this phrase and the way to make it work is Persistence, in other words not giving up.

Energy works in such a way that there is no such thing as something for nothing. The Law of Nature is what you give, you will receive back. The goal, in this case, is your desire, but you need the persistence and the plans to achieve that goal, and that constitutes you putting the energy or the work into what you want to get back. For Example, someone who is overweight and is unhappy with themselves and wants to lose weight can do it, if they utilize persistence in their habits to make the necessary changes.

The key here is Persistence. Now, said a person wants to lose 50lbs because they are 50lbs overweight. It is not logical to think that you’re going to lose those 50lbs in such a short period of time and without being persistent. That is unrealistic, and you are setting yourself up for failure. You got yourself into this mess, now it is going to take work or energy to get yourself out. To be successful, and lose those 50lbs, you have to GET YOUR MIND RIGHT FIRST, and that starts with your self-image and forming good habits.

First:

How you see yourself plays a huge role in whether or not you can achieve that which you desire. Look at yourself in the mirror and understand or visualize what you will look like 50lbs less and say to yourself repeatedly “I am losing 50lbs. This is your desire and an excellent way to start good habits. It is good for your mind to hear this positive affirmation because it will begin to trickle down into your subconscious mind and you will begin to believe that you are losing 50lbs. The key here is to be persistent in repeating this to yourself every single day and night. This is forming a good habit and the start to changing your lifestyle. You have to see it and hear it. If you don’t, you won’t believe it.

Second:

The plans to achieve that which you desire must be sound. In this case, it is eating sensibly and exercising every single day. Now if you try to lose 50lbs in a short period of time, you are setting yourself up for failure. However, if you plan accordingly for let’s say 6 months, then this is logical and sound, and it allows you the time to change your lifestyle without the pressures that are detrimental to your psyche and will cause you to give up or fail. Broken down into a more comfortable format, this is losing around 2lbs per week in a 6 month period.

Eating sensibly will become more comfortable and more frequent due to the changing of your sub-conscious mind from the persistence of your repeated affirmations. The same will go for your exercise. A daily regimen of proper use will help you achieve that which you desire, however consistency and persistence are the keys to success when exercising.

These two excellent habits of eating sensibly and exercising daily are the plans. Now, if you miss days of exercise and cheat on your meals, then you are not following the procedures, correct? You have to be persistent. That is the only way you are going to change your life.

Form these two good habits and be consistent. If you think about 24 hours in a day, it is more than enough time to give your body one of these hours devoted to exercise. Even if you need to break up this hour into two halves, then set that alarm clock and wake up every day bright and early and go walk for a half an hour. It is simple, easy and one of the best forms of exercise, especially when it comes to losing weight. You can make it fun for yourself by listening to music on headphones, positive affirmations or whatever it is that you like to listen to. You can also make it enjoyable by walking with a friend, or a family member, or even a dog.

Another great idea is to change the setting in your walks, by not always walking the same routes. Walk to different places or different paths to spice up your steps and not keep it repetitive. This is also an excellent way to expand as a person. Walk during the morning and walk during the evening. Make it your routine, make it your habit.

Third:

Surround yourself with people who are sympathetic to your cause or people that will influence you to be your best and help you achieve your goals. You are who you surround yourself with. If you hang out with criminals consistently, you will eventually be influenced and caught up in criminal activities. This same concept applies to your eating and exercising habits. At work, if your friends are going to a fast food joint, or are lazy then don’t join them.

Distance yourself from them during lunchtime or whatever it is that would cause you not follow through with the plan. You need good positive energy to stay strong, so instead find co-workers who are eating healthy and join them. The same goes for exercise, join friends, join a class or find a personal trainer that will motivate you to stay on the path to achieving your goals. Surrounding yourself with people who are dedicated and are living a healthy lifestyle is the best way to influence you to continue the good habits in your life.

Fourth:

Finish what you started. You gave yourself 6 months, so see it all the way through. Even if you lost half the weight during this time period, it is still a success. That is 25lbs. That is still 25lbs less then you were before. It is all in the frame of mind. Now you know what it takes to achieve your goal so try it again. Remember, Persistence! Wishing for something is not going to make it happen. You must do it over and over again till you succeed. Remember, Quitters Never Win, and Winners Never Quit.

There is a proverbial wall that some people hit and this wall forces them to give up because it makes them feel comfortable to go back to the way they were. Recognize this wall because it is the most prominent detriment to your success. This wall has caused so many people throughout the world and throughout time to not succeed at what they want in life.

Everyone has this wall, but not everyone understands that PERSISTENCE is what smashes this wall to smithereens. Follow the plan with diligence and allow it to become your reality. You must finish what you start no matter what. You can do it. It’s been done before and will be done again. The Persistence will help you achieve your goal, and you may not have realized it, but you have changed, your lifestyle has changed, and you have already succeeded, it was just a matter of being persistent in following the plan in that which you desired.
